Western District of Texas in the Top Five for All Patent Litigation and NPE Cases
August 14, 2019
In Q2 2019, the Western District of Texas became one of the five most popular districts for patent litigation in the US, after breaking into the top five for NPE cases in Q1. The Western District has seen a surge of interest since the confirmation of District Judge Alan D. Albright there in September 2018. This rise in popularity may be the result of Judge Albright’s efforts to openly court the filing of patent cases in his district—in part through the implementation of rules designed to appeal to both plaintiffs and defendants. The graph below details the top districts in the second quarter.
